Office Introduction:

 

Soil Resource Development Institute (SRDI), Regional Laboratory, Jashore, Regional Laboratory, Jashore Office is a government organization which is subjugated by Divisional Laboratory, Khulna under the administrative control of Ministry of Agriculture. This organization is NARS (National Agricultural Research System) listed because it is delegated into the research of agriculture, soil and fertilizer. Regional Laboratory, Jashore has set journey from November, 2020. Its activities are expanded in two districts, Jashore and Narail. This office holds an administrative section, an air conditioned auditorium and an ultra modern laboratory. By testing disputable adulterated fertilizers from several land ports (Bhomra, Benapol, Hili etc.) and sea ports (Mongla, Payra, Chattogram), the qualitative standards of the fertilizers are being able to be known. Micro and Macro nutrients of plants along with the mineral materials of soil and water and presence and quantity of several heavy metals are identified here by next generation instruments like Spectrophotometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and Nitrogen Analyzer etc. The mission and vision of Soil Resource Development Institute is ensuring the logical and beneficial use of the limited land and soil resource and achieving self sufficiency in food by conservation of soil environment. To co operate to create guidelines, pamphlets and accessories congenial to the beneficiaries to ensure the optimum use of land and soil resources. To assist in formulation and implementation of sustainable development plan to increase crop production and problematic soil management.

Functions:

  1. Analyzing the soil, fertilizer, water and plant samples to create sustainable exuberant environment;
  2. Planning and supervising of fundamental and practical research on soil infertility, experimentation of crop and soil humidity relation, variation in quantity of plant nutrition elements in different soils and soil toxicity;
  3. Soil sample analysis and fertilizer recommendation from fixed laboratory;
  4. Collaboration in operating of Mobile Soil Testing Laboratory;
  5. Providing analytical services of soil, water, plant and fertilizer to the farmers and other beneficiaries and giving fertilizer recommendation for location based crop production based on the results from soil sample analysis;
  6. Proper soil and water management in crop production, application of balanced fertilizer, identification of adulterated fertilizers; 
  7. Online fertilizer recommendation service through internet.
